Where to stay in Innsbruck in summer: the best areas and hotels
For a first summer visit, stay in the old town or city centre: the Nordkette funicular, the Promenade Concerts in the Hofburg and the riverside restaurants are all a short walk away. If you are coming mainly to hike and swim, stay on the sunny plateaus above the city in Igls, Lans or Mutters, where trails start at the door, several hotels have pools or ponds, and buses or the Stubaitalbahn run into town. Most hotels give the free Welcome Card from two nights, which in summer 2026 included public transport and the guided hikes.

The old town: for first visits and the Nordkette
The car-free old town puts the Golden Roof, the Hofburg courtyard concerts and the Nordkette funicular within a few minutes' walk, and summer evenings are spent on terraces in the lanes and by the Inn. Rooms are in historic houses, so expect character rather than space, and drivers park in the public Altstadtgarage.

The districts east of the centre have friendly, good-value hotels with trams or buses into town in minutes, free or easy parking for day trips by car, and quick access to the Inn cycle path, Schloss Ambras and its park.

Which Innsbruck hotels have a pool?
In the city, the Grauer Bär (rooftop pool) and Hotel Das Innsbruck (indoor pool open around the clock). Above the city, DER WALZL in Lans has a heated rooftop infinity pool, the Bon Alpina in Igls has indoor and outdoor pools, and the Seppl in Mutters has an indoor pool and a natural swimming pond.
