The Penz sits on Adolf-Pichler-Platz, inside the Rathaus Galerien complex, so the old town is a few minutes' walk one way and the Hauptbahnhof about ten minutes the other. It is a design hotel in the quiet sense: handcrafted furniture, marble and tile, and rooms that put space and good sleep first. Superior rooms are about 25 m2, Deluxe rooms about 30 m2 with city and mountain views, and Junior Suites have two bathrooms, a kitchenette and a Nespresso corner.
Breakfast is included and runs until 11:00, or 12:00 at weekends, which is welcome after an evening upstairs. The 5th Floor Rooftop American Bar has a roof terrace facing west for sunset cocktails over the city. Drivers can park in the Rathaus Galerien garage directly below at a hotel rate. The old town Christmas markets are a few minutes' walk away, and the late breakfast and rooftop bar make it an easy base for an unhurried December city break.
