Above the city
Igls sits on a sunny plateau above Innsbruck at the foot of the Patscherkofel, Innsbruck's Olympic home mountain. It feels like a mountain village, with quiet nights and green walks, yet bus J and tram 6 still link it to the city. The hotels here are mostly family-run, with pools, saunas and big family rooms. In winter the Patscherkofel ski area is a few minutes from the hotels, with 20 km of pistes and views of more than 400 peaks. In summer the cable car takes you up to the Zirbenweg, a 7 km high-level walk through arolla pine woods. It suits families, skiers who like an easy first lift, hikers and anyone who prefers village calm to city bustle.
4 hotels, including Patscherkofel and Vill. Listed by classification, then size; not a ranking.
