Melchior Sailer opened a Gasthof on Adamgasse in 1896, and the Sailer family still runs it today, now as a four-star hotel with 88 rooms and suites. It stands about two minutes' walk from the Hauptbahnhof, so you can step off the train and be in your room almost at once, and the old town is a short walk north.
The restaurant is a big part of the appeal: a run of wood-panelled Tyrolean Stuben, a wine cellar and a shaded beer garden, with the kitchen open at lunch and dinner every day. All rooms have air conditioning, Junior Suites take up to four people, and the buffet breakfast starts at 06:00 for early ski days. On the sixth floor there is a Finnish sauna and an infrared cabin. It suits skiers, families and anyone arriving by rail.
