The Goldener Engl stands on the Unterer Stadtplatz in Hall in Tirol, the old salt town about 9 km east of Innsbruck with one of the best-preserved medieval centres in the Alps. The listed building has been an inn since at least 1629, and the station is about 400 metres away, so Innsbruck is a short train ride.
The 19 rooms and suites are each designed differently, from doubles to premium rooms, the Engl Suite and a Spa Suite with a freestanding bath. Breakfast with regional produce is served in the Salzstuben, and the Augustiner Keller in the same building serves Tyrolean food every day from 3pm to 11pm, to guests and locals alike. Dogs are welcome and there is a lift. It suits couples and anyone who would rather wake up in a quiet historic town than in the city, with Innsbruck close at hand.

Hall's own Christmas market fills the old town squares, and Innsbruck's markets are a short train ride from the station 400 m away.
In summer
Explore Hall's medieval lanes and the mint tower, or take the train into Innsbruck for the Nordkette, then dine in the Augustiner Keller.
