Hotel Sonnhof sits on the edge of Mutters, a quiet village on the sunny terrace south of Innsbruck, with wide views across to the Nordkette and the city. The Stubaitalbahn tram stops five minutes' walk away and runs into the centre in about half an hour, and the Muttereralm ski area is about 2 km up the road.
It is a relaxed, family-run house. Breakfast is a buffet of regional produce from local farms, and the restaurant and garden terrace are open to the public for lunch and dinner. The indoor pool, 11 by 4 metres and kept at 29 degrees, opens onto a large garden lawn, with a Finnish sauna beside it. There are rooms for three and four, a playground and a games room, free parking and a heated ski room. Stay two nights or more and the Welcome Card gives free public transport in Innsbruck. It suits families, skiers and walkers who want space and value.
