Weisses Rössl sits on Kiebachgasse in Innsbruck's pedestrian old town, two minutes on foot from the Golden Roof. The house has been an inn for more than 600 years, and the Plank family has run it since 1919; the fourth generation is in charge today. Downstairs are wood-panelled parlours serving Tyrolean dishes with a seasonal touch, a sun terrace, and a bar in a vaulted medieval cellar.
Rooms range from a compact single facing the courtyard to suites under the rooftops with views of the surrounding mountains, and all but the single are air-conditioned. A buffet breakfast with Tyrolean specialities is included, served in the parlour or out on the terrace when the weather allows. Families can take a suite with space for one or two children. It suits couples who want to step straight out into the old town lanes, and anyone who likes to eat well where they sleep.
In winter
The Christmas market around the Golden Roof is two minutes away, and the Tyrolean parlours downstairs are the place to warm up afterwards.
In summer
Breakfast moves out to the sun terrace in fine weather, and some Classic Suites have their own roof terrace or balcony.
