Paragliding near Innsbruck: tandem flight from the Elfer summit

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 110 GetYourGuide reviewers

For people who want to watch the paragliders launch before their own turn, and who like the option of a longer flight. You ride the gondola up on your own and meet your pilot at the launch site on the summit, with the railway ticket included.

Starts inNeustift im StubaitalAll year

After you book, AIR 4 YOU sends you the details and a meeting time. On the day you take the Elfer gondola in Neustift im Stubaital up to the mountain station by yourself; your ticket for the mountain railway is included. The launch site cannot be reached by car, so the gondola is the only way up.

At the top you can watch other paragliders take off while you wait. Your pilot arrives at the agreed time, fits your harness and talks you through the launch: a few steps and you are airborne above the Stubai Valley.

The listing says time in the air depends heavily on the weather. On the operator's own site you can add a longer flight (about 20 or 30 minutes) or a higher launch after a short walk towards the Elferhütte, and photos and video of your flight. Ask when you book if you want any of these.

You land on the meadow below, close to the valley station, so you finish right where your car or bus is.

In winter

The Elfer is also a winter launch site, with take-off in a marked area away from the ski runs. The Elfer lifts close after 1 November 2026 and the winter opening date was not yet published when we checked, so this flight cannot run until they reopen; the calendar shows open dates.

In summer

Summer is the main season: the Elfer gondola ran daily from 14 May to 1 November in 2026, from 08:30 or 09:00, and the Elfer is known among pilots for good thermals. Wear long trousers and closed shoes; sandals are not allowed.
