Innsbruck Card with public transport

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 576 GetYourGuide reviewers

The best-value way to see Innsbruck if you plan a full day or two of sightseeing: the Nordkette cable cars, Swarovski Crystal Worlds with its shuttle, the museums and all the city buses and trams on one card. The one thing to know: each attraction counts once, so plan a busy day and the card pays for itself quickly.

Starts inInnsbruck city centreAll year

You book the card here and collect it at the Innsbruck Information office at Burggraben 3, at the entrance to the old town (tram and bus stop Maria-Theresien-Strasse or Center). The clock starts when you first use it, and you choose 24, 48 or 72 hours.

From then on the city is open to you. Buses and trams run by IVB are free, as is the Sightseer hop-on hop-off bus, and the card covers public transport out to Hall in Tirol. At the Alpine Zoo, the Nordkette and the Patscherkofel you walk straight past the ticket desk.

A good first day starts with the Nordkette in the morning, when the air over the valley is clearest: one ride up and one ride down are included. Come back down via the Alpine Zoo, then spend the afternoon in the old town at the Golden Roof Museum, the City Tower, the Hofburg and the Court Church.

On a second day take the free shuttle bus to Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, which is included with entry, and add the Bergisel ski jump, Ambras Castle or the Tirol Panorama. The card also brings discounts on extras such as the Tyrolean evening and the casino.

In winter

Most sights stay open all winter, the Christmas markets are on your doorstep from mid November, and the Patscherkofel and Nordkette rides give you snowy views without skis. November is the month to watch: the Nordkette closes for maintenance from 2 to 19 November 2026 and Ambras Castle is closed all month.

In summer

Summer gets the most out of the card: long days for the Nordkette and the Patscherkofel, Ambras Castle with its Renaissance gardens, and 3 hours of bike hire at Die Boerse included. The Sightseer bus is an easy way to string the sights together in the heat.

Before you book

  1. November closures

Some sights shut for maintenance in November: the Nordkette from 2 to 19 November 2026, Ambras Castle for the whole month and Swarovski Crystal Worlds on 9 and 10 November. The listing gives no refund for closed attractions.

What to do. If you visit in November, plan around these dates or wait until the Nordkette reopens on 20 November.

  2. Not a ski pass

The cable car rides are for sightseeing: the listing excludes lift rides with sports equipment.

What to do. Skiers should look at a ski pass instead and use the card on a rest day.

Questions

Does the Innsbruck Card include the Nordkette cable car?

Yes. It includes one ride up and one ride down on the Nordkette cable cars, and the same on the Patscherkofelbahn. You skip the ticket desk at the valley station.

Is Swarovski Crystal Worlds included?

Yes. Entry to Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens and the shuttle bus from Innsbruck are both included.

Can I use the card more than once at the same sight?

No. Each attraction can be used once. Public transport and the Sightseer bus can be used as often as you like while the card is valid.

Where do I pick up the card?

Exchange your booking at the Innsbruck Information office at Burggraben 3, at the entrance to the old town. Details come with the booking.

Is the Innsbruck Card worth it?

It pays off fast if you ride the Nordkette: the return to the top costs €56 on its own, so the 24-hour card at €69 is ahead after one museum. Add Swarovski with its shuttle and the gap grows.
