The Bergisel rises at the southern edge of the city; tram 1 runs out to the Bergisel stop and the Sightseer bus stops at Tirol Panorama / Bergisel. From the stadium entrance an inclined lift carries you up the slope, or the energetic can climb the 455 steps.
At the tower, two lifts take you up in a few minutes to the viewing terrace, 44 metres above the ground, and to the Bergisel SKY restaurant. From here you look straight down the in-run to the stadium, which holds up to 26,000 people, and across the city to the Nordkette.
A gallery on Olympic history and ski jumping explains why the jump matters: it hosted the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics and is still a stop on the Four Hills Tournament every New Year.
Many visitors take the lift up and walk down the stairs for different views. Allow an hour or so, longer if you stay for coffee or lunch in the SKY restaurant.
In winter
From November to May the arena opens Wednesday to Monday, 9:00 to 17:00, and is closed on Tuesdays. The Four Hills Tournament comes to Bergisel on 2 and 3 January 2027, and the snowy city below makes the terrace view especially good on a clear day.
In summer
From June to October it is open daily from 9:00 to 18:00. From early May to mid October jumpers often train here, and the operator lists free live jumping shows from 10:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 15:00, weather permitting.
