Bobrafting on the Olympic bob track in Igls

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 10 GetYourGuide reviewers

A ride down the Olympic ice track above Igls in a raft that needs no pilot, at up to 95 km/h. Friends, families with children over 10 and thrill-seekers love it. It runs in winter only, roughly December to March, when the track is iced.

Starts inIglsWinter

The Olympic track lies above Igls, south of Innsbruck, and has hosted Olympic bob and luge since 1964 and 1976. Check in at the Bobcafé (Heiligwasserwiese 1, Igls), across the track from the finish house, 15 minutes before your slot. Parking is limited, and the listing points to extra spaces at the Patscherkofel ski area.

From the Bobcafé you walk to the start, about 15 minutes on foot including steps and uphill stretches. Staff give you a helmet and a balaclava and run through the safety rules.

Then you climb in, up to four to a raft (sometimes fewer, depending on conditions), hold the handholds and go. The listing describes 1,270 metres of track and 14 corners, including the Kreisel, a full circle, at speeds of up to 95 km/h.

The ride finishes at the finish corner, where friends and family can watch you come in.

In winter

Bobrafting runs only when the track is iced, which Olympiaworld gives as December to March. Dress for standing outside in the cold: warm clothes, gloves and warm shoes.
